First, Daniel made some beginning comments and then quoted from DBS speakers from the Conference in 2004. He made reference to schools because the DBS met at the Heritage Baptist University. These comments were especially pertinent to this school setting. Editor]

At the bottom of each slide the acronym C.T.T.F.M. appears. This is taken from II Timothy 2:2 which states: "And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same Commit Thou To Faithful Men, who shall be able to teach others also."

I need the help of newly inaugurated presidents and deans of schools of higher learning. If you have recently taken new administrative responsibilities then I urge you to developed immediately a position on the preservation of God's Words.

Clearly this old issue clothed with new clothes falls under the category of Higher Criticism. It is just as deadly as the inerrancy issue of the early Twentieth Century. I trust that you would find some discomfort with the statement "The Bible contains" the Words of God.

You should also have the same discomfort with the statement on "God Did Not Promise To Preserve His Words." It is likely that in your school's doctrinal statement there is a refutation against the phrase "the Bible Contains" the Words of God.

If you fail to act now then you will destroy a generation of young Christians and by the time your successor follows you--your school will be further down the road to ruin.

I understand how no one likes to be criticized.

This issue is a Biblical issue and not a political one. It is one that falls under the umbrella of higher criticism

Assemble your advisers and ask them what happened in Churches and Schools around the world when men started claming that the "Bible Contains" the Words of God?

Men in Schools like yours started leaving fellowships and the ways of thinking they clave to for much of their life. They left and made their views known. Yes there was a cost. I am asking you to pay the cost and make you views known about preservation. What would the founders do if they were still administrating?

More than likely the peers of the founders of the institution of which you now administrate certainly would have vigorously opposed such a statement.

The politics in the circles within which you move is pushing you to agree or remain silent. But you cannot remain silent. You must lead the charge and fight for what you believe Scripture teaches. If you believe that God did not preserve his Word then fight for the view AND if you believe that He did then fight for that view.

Let me ask you does agreeing with error or not sounding an alarm against it sound like something early non-conformist like those in the founders generation would have done? This is a pivotal issue that not only will destroy your school but all the churches your graduates pastor.  You cannot sit in silence. Please make your position clearly known!

 This is not a dispute about the 7% of discrepancies among the texts 

It is about the preservation of either

 This is a pivotal issue that cannot be ignored

If you fail to act now either you or your predecessor will be at the helm when the school begins to entertain other aspects of higher criticism and deviations from sound doctrine.

Logically By your romancing the idea that you do not have a copy of God's preserved Word you are close to courting the concept that The Bible was written by mere humans (no inspiration) this will lead to questioning the authenticity of fact.

Please let your students know what your view on Bible Preservation Is.

Please think of seventy-eight years into the future when the men of YOUR Great Grand Children's generation are leading the school you now lead.

Considerations from 2004

A doctrinal statement or a creed are meaningless unless supported by God's Word. If one does not have God's Word the creed cannot be deemed trustworthy and consequently man is set a drift at sea without a rudder or sail. Denial of verbal preservation is nothing more than a form of existentialism.

The apostates brought division with this new Greek text of 1881 and the Neo-Fundamentalists brought this issue up, dividing Fundamentalism in the middle! It is better to divide because of truth than to be united in error!

If it [The Words of God] is preserved "in the totality of ancient manuscripts," how can it be "God's Word in our hands"?  You can't go to the far-flung fields of the world and read God's Word.  We believe that God has preserved His Hebrew and His Greek Words and the most accurate translation of those preserved Words is the King James Bible.

It is my opinion that Erasmus (and I know from reading concerning him) that as he traveled around Europe he was always looking for manuscripts of the Bible and he carried along what we could call a notebook and he would write down concerning the variants and what those particular manuscripts had about them and notes the manuscript. The Word of God existed in Heaven before it was written here on Earth. It has always been a settled issue in Heaven. People may be unsettled down here but it has always been settled in Heaven in the mind of God. The very Word of God that we need and that works effectually in those that believe has always been a settled issue in Heaven.

It pre-existed its coming to Earth. Just like the Living Word, Jesus, pre-existed His coming by means of the virgin birth, so the Scriptures pre-existed their coming by means of inspiration. What was written in the Bible was no surprise to God. He had already worked that out long before and had it settled in Heaven. Dr. H. D. Williams

For the past two hundred years theological liberalism has been a system of unbelief, it has questioned, denied, and directly attacked the foundational tenants of New Testament Christianity.

The inconsistency and misinformation about the Bible text in the Mission field is overwhelming. In Brazil, one of the largest mission fields in the world, many fundamentalist missionaries are adopting the wrong position on the Bible issue and using a wrong Bible translation based on the Critical Text Daniel Waite

The present hour demonstrates a gradual attempt to reconstruct the once demolished philosophical bridge between lower criticism and higher criticism.

Inspiration was the process by which God gave what He had in Heaven to us here on Earth. Just as He gave us His Son by the process of the virgin birth, He gave us the Word of God by the process of inspiration. That was the process by which God took what was forever settled in Heaven and moved it down to have it recorded here on the face of the Earth. That is inspiration.

The NT connects ecclesiology and Bibliology . . . The same institution that Baptizes is the same one that teaches is the same one that teaches them to guard all things-that's the local church.

This world is in heap big trouble in every way and we cannot afford to have our young people think that they have a Bible that is filled with error! Pastor Doug Sherrill

Church historian William Blackburn writes: "No legalized institution (The Roman Catholic Church) has ever done more to church intellectual and religious liberty, or added more to the unspoken miseries of the human race. Every layman daring to possess a Bible, now first forbidden to the laity by this council, was in peril of the rack, the dungeon, and the stake:"

This issue is not only in English speaking countries. It is everywhere. If you are involved in Missions using the King James Bible, does not solve all of your problems!

It was there at the beginning. I want you to see that God had His Word in Heaven long before He had it here on Earth. That is important to understand because that will help you to understand what the process of inspiration really was. Dr. Gary La More

In today's culture few churches attempt to uphold the absolute standard of Scripture. God's Word is seldom taught correctly nor is it taught thoroughly. You must make every effort must be made to teach God's people God's Word. Dr. Aaron Strouse

IF these two doctrines [Ecclesiology and Bibliology] are indeed very closely connected . . . I would contend that if you are week on one doctrine, namely ecclesiology, it will to various degrees influence the other doctrine. Dr. David Sorenson

I am of the view and of the opinion that Alexandria Egypt in the third and fourth centuries AD would be analogous to Rome and the Vatican in later centuries. That was its apostate spiritual influence in that early stage of church history.

Another thing that has been impressed upon us it the lack of parental concern about the place were there young people will be educated.

If you are going to translate, you must take God's words and move them over, word by word, into words in another language. You must make sure that the meaning carries over and linguistically fits. If you have learned another language you will know that word order is not always the same in a sentence. Dr. David Sorenson

When the major textual editors of the Critical Text have identified themselves with the theory of evolution, . . . German rationalism, the World Council of Churches, Unitarians, and the Roman Catholic Church. In the view of this writer [Sorenson] they have caused offences contrary to sound doctrine. Dr. H. D. Williams

HORT SAID: "Textual purity, as far as can be judged from the extant literature, attracted hardly any interest. There is no evidence to show that care was generally taken to choose out for transcription the exemplars having the highest claims to be regarded as authentic, if indeed the requisite knowledge and skill were forthcoming."

Now brethren can there be any question that Westcott and Hort were theological liberals? They clearly dabbled in the occult, they recommended Charles Darwin and what he wrote, they publicly stood with a blatant Unitarian who denied the Deity of Christ and if the principle of separation is the cornerstone of fundamentalism how can any fundamentalist have anything to do with them.

There are infidels, heretics and theologians who have banded together to try to destroy the Word of God. There was an infidel in France who made an effort to try to destroy every Bible in the country of France. The humor of the point is that after his death his house was purchased by the French Bible Society for their headquarters. He thought he was going to do one thing but God turned it around and made it almost a laughing stock. Dr. Aaron Strouse

As it relates to the text issue, it is important for you not primarily to be a Fundamentalist but to be a church member that guards all things. . . . If you're a pastor of a local church your responsibility is to guard all things.

We have a generation who are not interested in starting with God's Words but they want to start with some other text like Westcott and Hort's text. They were heretics. They denied the new birth, they believed in infant baptism, they believed that worship of Mary was the same as worshiping Jesus, they were spiritualists, they were . . .

. . . members of the Ghostly Society in England, they were Revolutionists, they were Socialists, they hated American democracy, and on and on. They were the ones who made these changes and they are lifted up as scholars. They didn't even know the Lord of the Book. Westcott didn't even believe in the bodily resurrection of Christ.

He disguises that very cleverly in his commentary on the book of John, but it is there. He didn't believe in some of the miracles either. They butchered up the text terribly and many translations are translations from the wrong words. You must start with God's Words. If you want purity in the end you must start with purity. You can't start with a corrupted text and end up pure. Daniel Waite

It is the responsibility of the local church to train and educate.

The Fundamental churches and Mission Agencies should ask the Missionary what kind of Bible he is going to use in that country before taking him for support, knowing what Bible in that country is from the Received Text. The right question for the missionary is: "Is this Bible, translated from the Received RECEIVED TEXT?"

That is absolute heresy to say, "The scroll [meaning the very Words of God] was not protected by heaven."  God has protected His Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek Words, not only the message, thoughts, ideas, concepts, truth, or teachings. This is rank heresy to say that God has not protected and preserved His Words.  Dr. Robert Barnett

Job's plea for the preservation of his words is typologically the plea of Jesus Christ to preserve His Words.

Westcott and Hort began that idea the Traditional Text could not have come on the scene till after the fourth century.

The Vatican museum is filled with pagan idols.

All over Rome you see syncretism between paganism and Christianity

There was window that was opened for about months and it slammed closed while we were there. What ever was going to get done in Baghdad by American Missionaries had to be done from the last shot of the Major conflict and February fourteenth when we were ambushed that was the beginning of this present escalation in the war

All of your training and all of your education (and God bless you for using it for the Lord) isn't worth a dime if he hasn't put his faith in the Word of God.

You men who are college presidents as, I am, you better be careful what are allowing your students to read. . . . they are going to take out some bad things with them

I have the right to go into the battle in all languages of the world.

There is essentially no difference from in following statements:

"The Bible Contains the Words of God" and

"God Did Not Promise To Preserve His Words."

We are fighting a real battle over the issue of the Word of God these days. There has been a battle ever since the Garden of Eden when Satan said to Eve, "Yea, hath God said..?"

There is one institution in the New Testament. Its been told to do the teaching--but its also been told to do the very serious task of the guarding.

Virtually all the modern translations are based upon the critical text. The critical text form its inception in the midst of antiquity to this hour is associated with apostasy throughout its dark and crooked history.

The language helps us understand our King James Bible better

This message that God has given to us was once delivered . . . and once it is delivered to the saints it is for the saints to contend for the faith. . . . This book isn't going to be given over again.

A small deviation from the truth can lead one down the road to apostasy.

We must have the "text of God's Word" and God's very Words, not simply what these men believe we have, that is, only the thoughts, the concepts, the ideas, and the message

If the ancient writing of Scripture was inspired at the time of their writing, but are not available to us today through Providential Preservation, why fight for an Inspired Bible?

An early date alone therefore does not guarantee reliably and by the same token neither does a late date mean unreliability. It is possible that a very late manuscript say tenth century for instance might have been copied directly form a third century manuscript, therefore putting it right back to the place before where these men are dealing with and therefore have what they call validity.

There are five hundred millions Arabs in the world. It is the single most neglected people on the face of the earth we have not taken the gospel we have been afraid of since the inquisition and we have not effectively ministered to those people.

They confuse the issues by constantly redefining concepts and terms.

[The 2nd President of Fuller Theological Seminary during his 1959 inauguration said] "We must systematically inculcate into the thinking of our students and attitude of toleration toward those who hold an heretical view"

There is no such thing as "field council" in the Bible. Fundamentalist missionaries are supposed to give account to their independent, Bible (KJB) Believing sending churches not to "field councils

Scholarship is not the proper remedy nor is it the proper prescription for the dilemmas faced by man. The genuine cure for mankind is to stop wresting the Scripture and start resting in the Scripture. This can never be achieved by poking holes in it.

We are fighting a real battle over the issue of the Word of God these days. There has been a battle ever since the Garden of Eden when Satan said to Eve, "Yea, hath God said..?" There has been much questioning of the accuracy of the Word of God and knowing that we could actually trust what we have.

When we want to train our kids we send them away from the local church.

Someone must stand against the movement that is so popular all the ivy league seminaries that I know are critical text I want to be one of the few that stand in the gap one of the few that make a difference.

If we don't start recognizing that the battle front is in our churches with our people, and their the ones that need to be prepared for the battle-not us preachers.

We have the responsibility to go home and take this message to them that our people in our local New Testament Churches know how to stand up and to fight for this Word that God has given to us! . . . We need to be educating our people in the fact that they are in the battle. Pastor Marc Monte

Do you know that the New International Version, for example, is 63,000 words shorter then the King James Bible? This is by computer count. Downey doesn't even know what he has said.

People get saved when we give them the Word of God and what we held in our hand is the accurately translated preserved Word of God

If a pastor is doing his job week in and week out studying the Word of God he is going to know the Word of God whether or not he has a visible degree . . . behind his name. Dr. David Sorenson

. . .The United Bible Societies have worked to a greater degree with the Vatican than any other one group with perhaps the exception of the World Council of Churches.

The key Fundamental doctrine that Fundamentalism was born out of was concerning the Word of God; and fundamentalist hold to the verbal plenary inspiration of the Word of God; and the doctrine I see under attack through the back door of the Critical text issue is that verb inspiration is being denied in our so called Fundamentals schools today it is a very serious issue it is a very serious problem

It's not searching for the Bible that we need to do it is reading the Bible that we need to do.

Now Translators who use dynamic equivalence are undermining God's promises of divine of providential preservation of the very words God gave. And by refusing to translate every word of God accurately they are in practice violating and denying the very doctrine of verbal plenary inspiration that many of them still claim to believe. The problem is that our Fundamentalists are still holding to the date of Westcott and Hort

If a school claims to use the King James Bible, but in their theology class, their Bible study class, or their Greek class they correct the Bible within two generations they will be using another Version of the Bible.

The scholars who once refuted higher criticism are know secretly romancing it by their bold claims that God did not preserve His Word

As you study it [the Scripture in the original languages] honestly, and as you look at it closely when you get to the end you say they [the KJB translators of] couldn't have said it any better. . . .

The multiplicity of English Bible versions has in the mind of the populous destabilized the text of the Bible to the point that the Bible's text is no longer recognizable to the average person in public. And is this not part of the Devil's plan--to keep the Words of God from the average people. Dr. D. A. Waite

There are over 8,000 differences between the Greek Words underlying the KJB New Testament and the Words of the critical Greek text. "Families" simply do not exist.

The Church of Rome has always been, is, and will always be the enemy to true Christians and the Bible! They have an evil root and have produced poison fruit.

The roots of modernism lay in the critical philosophies of David Hume . . . and Emmanuel Kant. With their radical disavow of any supernatural elements in religion and their unbounded . . . faith in an autonomous man who can decide for himself . . . with unaided reason what he will believe without dependence upon Divine Revelation.

God did not "inspire" a mere "message," but exact Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek WORDS.  He did the same thing in "preservation." It is more than a mere "message." It is accurate WORDS.
