We thank Dr. Kirk DiVietro, pastor, and the people of Grace Baptist Church in Franklin, Massachusetts, for another kind and gracious invitation to host the Dean Burgon Society for our 32th Annual Meeting. Dr. DiVietro is our DBS Secretary, also a strong DBS defender and author.

It is always a privilege to be on the platform with our faithful DBS Founder and President, Dr. D. A. Waite. Dr. Waite, as our resident scholar in Bible Defense, many people anticipate your annual answer to this most important traditional question: Dr. Waite, over your many years of studying each book, chapter, verse and word in the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek scriptures underlying the translation of the Authorized 1611 King James Bible, have you ever found any translation errors or mistakes in our 1769 Cambridge edition of the King James Bible?

We commend the Executive Committee of the Dean Burgon Society for approving an excellent resolution making clear any and all misunderstandings or false accusations concerning our united defense of every English word in the text of our 1769 Cambridge edition of the King James Bible. I believe this resolution will be adopted unanimously by vote of all DBS members later on at this annual meeting. . It is a position I believe most of us have held since even before we ever heard of the Dean Burgon Society.

" Whereas, some individuals have charged that the Dean Burgon Society (a.k.a. DBS) wanted in the past, wants in the present, or intends in the future to change the Words of the 1769 Cambridge edition of the King James Bible (KJB) and publish another English Bible version, and Whereas, a clause in section "A" of the Articles of Faith of the DBS concerning "The Bible," which states "although there might be other renderings from the original languages which could also be acceptable to us today," might be misunderstood or construed to imply an intention to change, add to, or subtract from the KJB, the Executive Committee of the DBS categorically denies this characterization. The clause is meant to reinforce the need for proper study of the Scripture by pastors, evangelists, missionaries, and teachers in order to present the truth to a wayward world by consulting the underlying Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek Words when needed.

Therefore, Be It Resolved, that The Executive Committee of the DBS hereby states unequivocally that it has never in the past, nor will it ever in the future consider or even contemplate (1) to change, add to, or subtract from the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek Words underlying the King James Bible or (2) to change, add to, or subtract from the most accurate and faithful English translation of the underlying Words, the King James Bible. This includes the italicized words.

God has chosen to use and honour the KJB for 399 years. The KJB has played an unequalled role in world evangelism. Thus, the DBS would not support any other organization that sought to change, add to, or subtract from the KJB. This has been the singular position of the DBS since the establishment of the society in 1978, thirty-two years ago."

I pray this message will support our DBS position on the King James Bible as being a very scriptural, logical and reasonable position. Mathematics is considered by the world to be the science most governed by logic and reason.. Euclid's name is used synonymously with geometry. His work, Elements, has set the standard for logical structure in western mathematics for nearly 2,000 years. Euclid in teaching Aristotle's first principles indicated three types: definitions, axioms, and postulates." Euclid taught, "An axiom or common notion is an assertion, the truth of which is taken for granted as being blatantly obvious, and which is applicable -- by analogy, at least -- in all sciences. [42] An example is that things equal to the same thing are equal to each other; this is the first axiom in the Elements."

There was a time before the advent of higher and lower criticism of the Bible that logic and reason by faith in God's revealed words, ruled in Theology or the study of God. Theology was once considered the most important and fundamental of all sciences. There was a time when the Bible was believed to be truth with no admixture of error for its content. A Bible-based science of God was once a world and life view which provided the only sure foundation upon which Christians could rest and test all claims to coherent and certain truth in any and all other sciences. Today many use other sciences to challenge or change the Bible. Those of us in the 21th century who remain Bible-believers still hold to the historical orthodox position that the Bible is supreme truth in all areas wherein it speaks.

In this paper we shall briefly observe how the English word "truth" accurately communicates the content or meaning of two original language words God revealed which are translated into the English word truth, emeth (eh' meth) in the Old Testament Hebrew and aletheia (al-ay' - thi-a) in the New Testament Greek. The words emeth and aletheia were given by inspiration of God and remain God's inspired words. The English word truth was given by translation, not inspiration, but the same inspired truth, facts, or content within the words emeth and aletheia flows accurately into our English words of truth so as not to diminish the purpose and/or profitability of God's inspired truth accurately translated into our KJB. By comparing scripture with scripture, the Holy Spirit of Truth can use the translated English word "truth" to convey an overwhelming abundance of God's truth to us in the KJB.

1. God's Truth Revealed in the Old Testament

a.God's truth in His persons

1) Christ was the incarnate Word full of truth
John 1:14 (KJV)
14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

2) Christ was the source of truth
John 1:17 (KJV)
17For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

3) Christ was truth personified
John 14:6 (KJV)
6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 18:37 (KJV)
37Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

4) The Holy Spirit of truth is also truth personified
John 5:6 (KJV)
6This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
John 14:17 (KJV)
17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 15:26 (KJV)
26But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
John 16:13 (KJV)
13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.
1 John 4:6 (KJV)
6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
As our Baptist forefathers in their Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689 said of Holy Scripture: "....our full persuasion and assurance of the infallible truth, and divine authority thereof, is from the inward work of the Holy Spirit bearing witness by and with the Word in our hearts."

1) Because unsaved people have changed God's truth into a lie
Romans 1:25 (KJV)
25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Romans 2:8 (KJV)

2) Because unsaved people have not obeyed the truth

3) Because unsaved people received not the love of the truth unto salvation
2 Thessalonians 2:10 (KJV)
10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

5) Because unsaved people have erred concerning the truth they overthrow faith

6) Because unsaved people have never come to the knowledge of the truth

7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
John 18:38 (KJV)
38Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.

7) Because unsaved people have resisted the truth
2 Timothy 3:8 (KJV)

4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

14Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

9) Because unsaved people speak evil of the way of truth
2 Peter 2:2 (KJV)
2And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
Isaiah 59:14 (KJV)
14And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street and equity cannot enter.
Isaiah 59:15 (KJV) ,
15Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.
Romans 2:2 (KJV)
2But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.

As Our Baptist forefather in the Baptist Confession of Faith in 1689 said: "The supreme judge, by which all controversies of religion are to be determined, and all decrees of councils, opinions of ancient writers, doctrines of men, and private spirits, are to be examined, and in whose sentence we are to rest, can be no other but the Holy Scripture delivered by the Spirit, into which Scripture so delivered, our faith is finally resolved."

.....This has been a very simplistic message tracing the English word truth translated from, emeth (eh' meth) in the Old Testament Hebrew and aletheia (al-ay' - thi-a) in the New Testament Greek through the KJB. One point has been intended, to show that the meaning of "emeth " and t" aletheia "are make clear by comparing scripture with scripture following the English word truth through the KJB. As our Baptist forefathers said in the Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689: ""9. The infallible rule of interpretation of Scripture is the Scripture itself; and therefore when there is a question about the true and full sense of any Scripture (which is not manifold, but one), it must be searched by other places that speak more clearly."

While the KJB cannot correct any of the Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek words from which it is translated, it does expose and call into question .many errors in the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek critical text and modern Bibles translated from that critical text. For example, The KJB accurately carries every word in these 48 verses omitted, bracketed, or questioned in the critical text and most modern Bible versions: "Matthew 12:47; 17:21; 18:11; 21:44; Mark 7:16; 9:44; 9:46; 11:26; 15:28; 16:9-20; Luke 17:36; 22:20; 22:43; 22:44; 23:17; 24:12; 24:40; John 5;4; 7:53-8:11; Acts 8:37; 15:34; 24:7; 28:29; Romans 16:24; 1 John 5:7.

The KJB exposes the errors of critical text scholars who mistranslate Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek words. For example their attempt to deny the virgin birth of Christ in the messianic prophecy in Isaiah 7:14: "14Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." This prophecy was declared fulfilled in Matthew 1:22,23: "22Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." The testimony of Mary attests to Mary being a virgin in Luke 1:34: "34Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?" Jesus Christ was either virgin born or a bastard. To translate either the Hebrew word "alma" in Isaiah 7:14 or the Greek word "parthenos" in Matthew 1:23 into any English word except "virgin" is to join the unbelieving Pharisees in calling Mary a fornicator and Jesus a bastard. The Pharisees had called Jesus a liar in John 8:13. Jesus gave them the source of His statements in Matthew 8:38: "38I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father." Jesus told the Pharisees in John 8:41: "41Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God."

In Daniel 3:25 the KJB English "the Son of God" corrects the mistranslations of the original words "bar elahh" by modern scholars who change the translation into "a son of the gods." They use the excuse that Nebuchadnezzar believed in polytheism therefore he would have said, "a son of the gods." They ignore the context in the next verse, Daniel 3:26: "26Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire." Nebuchadnezzar knew whose Son was in the fiery furnace, the Son of "the most high God." Shadrack, Meshach, and Abednego knew whose Son was in the fiery furnace, "the Son of God."

In Psalm 12:6,7 the KJB English corrects the mistranslations of those who believe God's saints and not His words received God's promise of divine preservation: "6The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever." The claimed ambiguity of the underlying words cannot be used to alter the accurate translation of the KJB.

I believed God deliberately placed many inspired words into the original autographs which can be interpreted one way by people of faith and another way by people of unbelief. This is also why Jesus spoke in parables: Jesus explained this to His disciples in Matthew 13:10-12: "10And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? 11He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 12For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath." Again in Matthew 11:25: "25At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes." Isaiah 29:10-14 also give much insight: "10For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered. 11And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: 12And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned. 13Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men." 2 Peter 3:15,16 also says: ""15And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction."

Many churches in America are facing a famine for the truth of God's Holy Scriptures. Bible perversions are being multiplied in an attempt to bury the KJB once for all. As Amos 8:11 prophesied: "11Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD." Today more and more churches are being filled with people hearing the perverted words of man preaching a dynamic equivalent translation of critical text words; All determined by the percepts of man and not the Spirit of Truth. Masses of professing Christians are like the multitude Christ spoke of in Matthew 9:36: "36But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd." America is self-disintegrating because we have abandoned the true God and His Holy Scriptures. Unless we repent and get back to the Book, Christ will surely spew us out of His mouth.

God's truth in our 1769 Cambridge edition of the King James Bible is truth with no admixture of error for its content because the truth God revealed in His inspired, inerrant, infallible words in the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek was accurately translated by verbal, plenary, formal equivalence into our English language. As J.J. Ray wrote back in the 1950's "God Wrote Only One Bible" so God's original words of truth accurately translated into any receptor language, German, French, Spanish, Russian, English etc. remains the same body of truth God originally gave by verbal, plenary inspiration in the Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. "....things equal to the same thing are equal to each other; this is the first axiom in the Elements." The body of inspired, inerrant, infallible words of truth within God's Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek words underlying our King James Bible was accurately translated into our own English language by divine providential preservation so as to remain without need of human correction. By that we mean it has been, is now, and shall ever remain our English Bible standard of truth. God's Truth to Me, will always be, the KJB!

May God use this simple presentation to give aid and support to the cause for which these words in the DBS Executive Committee proposed resolution were written: "The Executive Committee of the DBS hereby states unequivocally that it has never in the past, nor will it ever in the future consider or even contemplate (1) to change, add to, or subtract from the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek Words underlying the King James Bible or (2) to change, add to, or subtract from the most accurate and faithful English translation of the underlying Words, the King James Bible. This includes the italicized words." -A-men!!!
